SuperStar Sorry Mark Edition
YoYoFactory - SuperStar Sorry Mark Edition
A lot happened and I got held up! This is the "Sorry I'm late, Mark" Edition.
What a strange name for a yo-yo! There's a story to this one. In 2008, there was a yo-yo contest held in Redondo Beach. The contest winner would get his own special edition yo-yo made. At least, that's what was promised. There were twists and turns, and the result was that the trophy signature edition kept getting put off, first for 6 months, then a year. It was two whole years before the yo-yo was put into production. This is a special Superstar with a double meaning: congratulations and sorry, to Team YoYoJam's Mark Mikamoto. This is a rarity, a signature yo-yo for a competitor maker's team member.
There's probably not another special edition with a backstory like this, and with its special flecked finish, there isn't another yo-yo that looks like this. Using a process similar to the splash color effect, each yo-yo has a different pattern on it. The Superstar and YoYoFactory logos are still etched onto the sides. YoYoFactory released, along with the yo-yo, the following public statement:
"2008 Redondo/Sorry Mark: In 2008 we promised a special edition yo-yo to the specs of the contest winner. Better late than never…"
