The inner rim that protrudes outwards distributes weight across the width, creating a sense of stability that keeps the yo-yo from wobbling during tricks. However, it is not difficult to move, and the inner rim's moderate rotational force and control allow you to move the yo-yo firmly without it leaning over. Since it doesn't lean over, there is less sleep loss, which results in longer combos.
