First Release in the "Research and Design" Lineup

Released as part of Atmos Projects' new "Research and Design" lineup, this model is positioned as a space for experimental projects and design exploration, and the Lamina embodies that philosophy perfectly.

The defining feature of this model is the existence of two variations: the α (Alpha) version and the β (Beta) version. While both share identical shape, size, and material, only the center weight differs. The α version features a domed hub in the center, weighing approximately 66g, about 1g heavier than the β version. Meanwhile, the β version has a flat hub at approximately 65g, with a higher proportion of rim weight.

The intent behind this design is to allow players to experience directly how subtle differences in weight distribution affect playfeel. In yoyo design theory, subjective terms like "floaty" lack established common definitions, an area where opinions differ among designers and manufacturers. The Lamina was created to provide a reference point for such discussions.

The α version has a more rounded feel, with a bouncy and cohesive impression, featuring smooth and gradual directional changes. In contrast, the β version offers clean, light, and agile handling, with a very fast and responsive feel.
