While Radix was an oversized model and Mgska and Gachiska were slim mid-size models in the Turning Point magnesium yo-yo series, the new Derivative is a full-sized, full magnesium model.
The specific gravity (a measure of density) of polycarbonate, the most major plastic used in yo-yos, is about 1.2, while 6061 aluminum alloy, a similarly common metal yo-yo material, is about 2.7. Magnesium, on the other hand, has a specific gravity of 1.7, which gives it a feel more like plastic.

The actual weight is quite heavy at 67.6g. However, the feel is rather similar to that of a plastic yo-yo, and like other magnesium yo-yos, it has an oddly light feeling. It also shares the same amazing torque on binds, and this mysterious strength is something that neither titanium nor conventional aluminum alloys can have.
Although everyone has their own preferences regarding the feel of the material, it has such an impact that it will leave a strong impression in players' memories.
