The special flagship model first produced in 2008 gets a new breath of life, in full titanium!
This special flagship model was produced by YoYoFactory in 2008, in a limited edition run of less than 100 units. The Catch 22, a low-edge bimetal yo-yo that was ahead of its time, was reissued on February 22, 2022, just before full metal yo-yos became popular around the world. After 14 years in the making, the yo-yo has been redesigned to be undersized (from a modern perspective) and slimmer in width, while maintaining almost the same size and shape as the original model.
While the original was a bimetal construction marrying aluminum alloy with titanium rim, this version is full titanium, and the hub stack has been eliminated. The low edge (zero highwall), which was radical at the time, is still present, and the POM part rings on the edges, which were used on the Flame and other rims, give a smoother feel and reduce sleep loss.
This may also prove to be a prophetic model from YoYoFactory; full titanium and POM rings may become the standard for the future.
